Black and White Box
Up loading content that violates community standards (nudity) has been an issue with such sites as youtube.com, twitter, Instagram, etc. Such sites have algorithms that recognize nudity. There are two such algorithms that youtube.com uses. One, a vector algorithm, searches for shapes that resemble the nude form. Another searches for skin tones of the nude body.
To determine the threshold of the vector algorithm I distorted black and white images of a nude Britney Spears to varying degrees with different photoshop filters. I then uploaded each image from the most distorted to the most unedited.
As of 2012 youtube.com accepted all the images except for the originals. The above image acts as a visual representation of youtube’s vector nudity detection algorithm.
